Meeting Date: 10/17/2017 7:00 PM

Members Present: 25

We opened the meeting with a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer. The 12 Traditions and H&I Purpose were both read.

General Report

We held our subcommittee on October 17th, 2017 at 7:00 pm. There were 25 members present, including 3 new members.  The new members all attended orientation as well.

We are currently taking in 11 presentations into 6 different clearance facilities and 12 presentations into 10 different non-clearance facilities with a combined total of 29 panel leaders with commitments at this time.

We currently have 11 open commitments at clearance facilities and 15 open commitments at non-clearance facilities. Please keep in mind that most of these facilities have multiple presentations on our listing as some facilities request more than one weekly meeting from our H&I subcommittee. With that being said, only 4 clearance facilities and 5 non-clearance facilities are not being serviced at all at this time. We are hopeful that this can be changed in the near future as more and more new members come to our subcommittee and former members return.

0 Clearance Forms and Letters of Recommendation have been submitted since our last subcommittee meeting.

We are placing a literature order in the amount of $298.90 at Area to replenish our stock.

We held 3 new facility presentations since the last ASC at Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center in St. Cloud, The Lifeboat Project in Apopka, and Aspire Oasis for juveniles in Intercession City.  It was determined that The Lifeboat Project did not meet the requirements to have an H&I meeting/presentation brought to them as their clients are not restricted in any capacity and can attend outside meetings.  It was, however, a valuable and productive meeting for both Public Relations and the facility.

Our subcommittee has finally reviewed the final section of the policy Ad-hoc’s recommendations for updates
and housekeeping changes to our guidelines.  The fully revised proposed H&I guidelines were not readily available at the last subcommittee as planned due to the chair accidentally breaking the USB that held the document.  The document has since been recreated and will be reviewed at the next subcommittee meeting one final time before submitting it to the groups for review at the following Area.

Fortunately, all of our admin team and panel coordinator positions are filled for this fiscal year! We elected two new panel leaders and five existing panel leaders have recommitted to another 6 month commitment.

Concerns or Needs

We need more NA members with clearance to be support to our existing panel leaders at Osceola, Orange and Seminole county jails and other correctional facilities so that there are more speaker options and panel opportunities for these facilities. Please spread the word that just because someone has a record, this does not guarantee denial for approval by the County Volunteer Coordinators.

Upcoming Events

Our next meeting will be held on the third Tuesday, December 19th, at 7:00 p.m. with orientation being held promptly beforehand at 6:30 p.m. at United Against Poverty located at 150 W. Michigan Street, Orlando, FL 32806.

In Loving Service,
Nikki R., Chair
