Public Relations Subcommittee meeting 8/24/2018 minutes

Opening Prayer/12 Traditions/12 Concepts

Attendance:  Cindy C, Liz B, Terri S, Matthew M, Gordon S, Mary Ann C, Mark Bay, Orbit R, Allen H

Ongoing Projects and Contacts:

  1. Sherriff’s Department follow-up is bi-monthly via email by Mark B to make sure there is a good supply of our cards in police politics
  2. QR Code Readers in multiple locations – Contact information for each facility is recorded for continued contact to maintain relationships
  3. Presentation forthcoming with UCF Campus Police Department, because of appointment of new Chief of Police after finding a satisfactory schedule that works for both
  4. Relationship with Director of Orange County Drug Free Coalition (Carol Burkett) ongoing. Will try and attend monthly meetings of the OCDFC.
  5. Informational Pamphlet outline for Director of OC Drug Free Coalition under revision prior to completion
  6. Seminole County Re-entry Program continues to be attended monthly (First Wednesday of the Month)
  7. Full Sail relationship continues to be pursued for work on PSA’s – Terri S gave Mark B the phone number of Susan Kelleher to see if she can help with this project
  8. Orange County Sheriff may offer assistance in creating PSA’s

 

Old Business:                                                                                                                                                                   

  1. Display Booth has been delivered
  2. NA Recovery Meeting – The Desire Group – is continuing to be well attended
  3. WCNA still seeking local NA meetings and Greater Orlando Area of NA are accommodating as best they can

New Business:

  1. There is a possibility of Public Relations and Helpline to merge *in case of* there being no Chair or Vice-Chair within 90 days of July’s ASC Meeting. Mary Ann C will look into current ASC Policies for both PR and Helpline. Mary Ann C has created a possible policy for both PR/Helpline combined (see attached)
  2. Terri S gave the report from FADAA (see attached)
  3. Recovery Walk will take place at Lake Eola on September 29th from 7:30 to 11:00 am. We will contact Carol Burkett to see if we can put up a PR presentation while there

 

Our next meeting is scheduled for September 28, 2018 @ 7pm at 150 E. Michigan St. Orlando, FL
